Cultivating awareness, compassion and a deeper connection with ourselves.

Mindfulness invites us to become more present in our lives, developing awareness of our thoughts, feelings and experiences with curiosity, kindness and without judgement.

Through mindfulness, we can begin to recognise the habitual patterns that shape how we think, feel and respond to the world. Rather than trying to change or improve ourselves, we learn to meet our experiences with greater openness and understanding.

Mindfulness is not about having an empty mind, always feeling calm or getting rid of difficult emotions. It is about learning to be present with life as it unfolds, including the moments that feel uncomfortable or uncertain.

Over time, this practice can help us develop a more compassionate relationship with ourselves and others, creating space to respond more consciously rather than being carried along by familiar reactions.

My Approach to Mindfulness

My own mindfulness journey began in 2005, and I have been teaching mindfulness to adults and young people since 2018.

My approach is rooted in personal practice and informed by Buddhist contemplative traditions, secular mindfulness, heart-centred meditation and my training in psychosynthesis counselling.

I see mindfulness as an invitation to turn towards ourselves with curiosity and kindness. As we become more aware of our thoughts, emotions and habitual responses, we may begin to recognise the ways we have learned to protect ourselves, adapt to others or move away from our own experience.

With awareness and compassion, there is an opportunity to soften some of these patterns and reconnect with what feels meaningful and authentic.

Mindfulness is not another task to perfect or an ideal to achieve. It is a practice of returning to ourselves, again and again, just as we are.

My teaching is experiential, combining guided meditation, reflection, discussion and practical exercises. I encourage participants to explore mindfulness in ways that feel accessible and relevant to their own lives.

My Training and Experience

My mindfulness practice has developed over more than twenty years, drawing on different contemplative traditions and approaches.

I trained with Youth Mindfulness organisation, whose teaching is influenced by the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, and have completed training in mindfulness programmes for children, adolescents and adults.

My training includes:

  • Youth Mindfulness Kids Programme (2018) — mindfulness teaching for primary-school children.
  • Youth Mindfulness SOMA Programme (2020) — mindfulness and wellbeing education for adolescents.
  • Heartfulness Meditation (100 hours, 2020) — heart-centred yoga, meditation, breathwork and yogic philosophy.
  • Youth Mindfulness for Life One Year Teacher Training (2023) — further development of mindfulness practice and teaching.
  • Transpersonal Coaching Psychology, Alef Trust (2021) — an integrative approach to personal awareness, meaning and human development.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, Psychosynthesis Trust (2026) — further developing my understanding of psychological processes, relationships and the connection between mind and body.

My personal practice has also included a ten-day silent meditation retreat in the Vipassana tradition, offering an opportunity to deepen awareness through sustained meditation and silence.

These different experiences inform my teaching, although each programme retains its own approach and purpose.

Mindfulness Programmes

I offer mindfulness programmes for adults, children, young people and organisations. Sessions are designed to be accessible and experiential, with opportunities to explore mindfulness through both formal meditation and everyday activities.

Heartfulness — Heart-Centred Meditation

Meditation from the Heart of Living Yoga tradition

Alongside mindfulness, I also practise and share heart-centred meditation from the Heart of Living Yoga tradition.

Heartfulness, or Heart Meditation, invites us to move beyond the busyness of the thinking mind and reconnect with the qualities of the heart, including compassion, kindness, peace and love.

Rather than striving to create a particular state of mind, the practice encourages us to soften, become present and develop a deeper sense of connection with ourselves.

Heart-centred meditation can include awareness of the breath, gentle relaxation, guided meditation and contemplative practices that encourage self-compassion and inner stillness.

The Heart of Living Yoga tradition draws on yogic philosophy and understands meditation as something that extends beyond formal practice into how we live, relate to others and care for ourselves.

My approach is gentle and inclusive, welcoming people to explore the practices in a way that is meaningful to them, whether through a spiritual understanding or simply a wish to cultivate greater compassion and presence.

Mindfulness in Everyday Life

Mindfulness is not limited to sitting in meditation.

It can be practised while walking, eating, listening, working, spending time with others or simply noticing our breath.

As we develop awareness, we may begin to recognise when we are caught in habitual thinking, self-criticism or automatic reactions. Mindfulness offers an opportunity to pause, acknowledge what is happening and respond with greater care.

For me, mindfulness is ultimately about how we relate to ourselves and the world around us. It is an ongoing practice of awareness, acceptance and compassion, helping us feel more at home in ourselves.
